Most people use AI like a smarter search box. That is useful, but it leaves most of the value on the table. A more innovative approach is to use LLMs as a temporary board of directors: one agent looks at risk, one looks at money, one looks at customer impact, one looks at execution, and one argues against the whole idea.
Here is the workflow. Start with a clear decision: “Should I launch this offer?” “Should I replace this vendor?” “Should I invest in this software?” Then ask the LLM to create five roles: CFO, customer advocate, operations lead, skeptic, and growth strategist. Give each agent the same facts and require each one to return a short memo with three points: what they support, what worries them, and what they would do next.
The magic is not that the AI knows your business better than you. It does not. The magic is that it forces structure into a decision that may otherwise be driven by pressure, excitement, or fear. You get a clean set of tradeoffs before you commit resources.
The next level is to make the agents debate each other. Ask the skeptic to challenge the growth strategist. Ask the operations lead to identify what breaks if the idea works. Ask the CFO what metric would prove the idea should be killed. That last question is important. AI is very good at helping you design the “stop doing this” rule before your ego gets involved.
This is practical AI: not hype, not magic, not replacement thinking. It is decision support with a sharper edge.
If you want more grounded ways to use AI in real life, my book Fear Less, Live More includes other practical examples and frameworks. This article is a new idea outside the book, but it fits the same philosophy: use the tools to reduce fear, increase clarity, and move with intention.
